I'm doing a 2nd, mid-day post today, because the internet cafe is air conditioned and it is incredibly hot out right now.
I thought I'd mention a couple of things about life here in general. First, the toilets... The Thailand toilets, at least in those places that aren't expensive and foreign, are part of the experience here. There is no toilet paper, there is a mini-hose with a nozzle that sprays water quite hard. So to use it you basically have to shoot water very hard onto (into) quite sensitive parts of your anatomy. An experience for all to enjoy, believe me.
Another thing is the music here. There is lots of live music on Khao San road, at all of the bars at night. The people playing it are Thai rockstars with American haircuts and so much enthusiasm you can't help but feel exhilirated. The music selection is pretty funny sometimes though, mostly old school hits that bring you back 10 years per song. Last night our band played Chumbawumba (I Get Knocked Down), Limp Bizkit (Rolling) and Nirvana, among a couple of others. Its a lot of fun but also a reminder of how touristy things are here. If I wanted to rock out to Nirvana, I didn't need to come to England.
Ok, Im off!

Wow, amazing experience, enjoy reading everybit, ummm the sex bazaar
sounds bizarre. we all missed you at the 4th block party but everyone who asked ended up reading your blog and
laughing, and loving it, wishing they were there with you, so we will all be with you in spirit traveling along, reach out when you need us. dad is beside himself about the missing the big market, and would probably fly over for it, of course we know he offered to go several times, no takers. Noah would probably like to be there too. I remember the alone feeling when I was first in europe before nikki came, if just for a few days, but it has its benefits and drawbacks you're right. Hope you're going to see the big temple there and i can't help myself but to say
"the museums" probably great art,
cuuulture and history. lastly your mother thanks you for writing this blog. love mom
